The Thai coach said bitterly about the red card; U23 Malaysia praises Vietnamese fans all the way

“It’s a pity that U23 Thailand had to concede a goal in the last minute of injury time. However, U23 Thailand was at a disadvantage when they lost people from the 41st minute due to a red card.” Coach Polking shared in the post-match press conference.

He added: “Initially we played well, but the red card changed the game. Then we tried to develop our play, keep the formation and keep the ball. Anyway, Thailand U23 still has 3 matches ahead and will try to do well”.

Thailand U23 was the first team to open the scoring thanks to Gustavsson’s attack in the 33rd minute. However, in the 41st minute, Polking’s army was at a disadvantage when defender Jonathan Khemdee had to receive a red card. Malaysia U23 then took full advantage of this advantage to come back, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Ahmad Asri (61′) and Azfar Fikri (90+4′).

“The red card situation obviously changed the game because we had to play without people. But we can’t say anything. That’s football, we have to accept it.”

“We couldn’t keep the ball, so Malaysia had more confidence, more determination to give it up. I told the players that we have to try to keep the ball, we have to defend well, but they couldn’t. It’s a pity to lose. this match”Coach Polking regretted.

Meanwhile, coach Bradley John Maloney of Malaysia U23 expressed caution despite winning all 3 points on the opening day. He shared:

“It’s too early to talk about the ticket to the semi-finals. U23 Malaysia must keep focused. We still have 3 matches ahead. Hopefully the team will get good results and have tickets to go on.”

When asked about the fact that Nam Dinh fans covered Thien Truong Stadium to cheer for U23 Malaysia and U23 Thailand, coach Bradley John Maloney expressed his excitement at the reception of the Vietnamese host at this SEA Games:

“It’s great for the players to be able to attend a match in these conditions of the audience and the field.

U23 Malaysia also had a good match. 3 players on the field as a substitute have a lot of impact on the game. They made great efforts and contributed greatly to bring three points. As for Azmi Murad’s injury, I can’t say anything yet because I still have to wait for the results from the hospital. It is an unfortunate injury, but U23 Malaysia still has other options to prepare for the next match.”
