Recently, the Ukrainian military said it blew up a Russian BMP-2 armored vehicle, killing the occupants.

The 24th Motorized Brigade of the Ground Forces of Ukraine said: “We detonated the ammunition of the BMP-2 vehicle using the Stugna-P anti-tank missile system. The vehicle weighing more than two tons rose into the air.” .

The Center for Strategic Communications (StratCom) stated: “Trust in the Armed Forces of Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine!”

The Russian military conducted a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. May 21 marks the 87th day of the campaign.

From February 24 to May 19, the total loss of Russian forces in combat was about 28,500 people, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military also claims that Russia has lost 1,254 tanks, 3,063 armored fighting vehicles, 595 artillery systems, 199 multiple launch missile systems, 93 air defense systems, 203 combat aircraft, 167 helicopters helicopters, 2,157 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, 13 ships, 455 unmanned aerial vehicles, 43 special equipment units and 103 cruise missiles. However, Russia did not confirm these numbers.

After the fall of the port city of Mariupol, Russian authorities plan to demolish the Azovstal steel mill and turn the city into a “resort”, according to the Institute for the Study of War.

The Kremlin also said that Ukrainian fighters hiding in the Azovstal factory had been taken to a former prison complex in Russian-controlled Donetsk.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, about 771 Ukrainian soldiers at the Azovstal plant have surrendered as of May 19.

Despite this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky still called the Russian operation in Ukraine an “absolute failure”, and stressed Ukraine’s determination to regain control of the southern cities of Kherson, Melitopol, Berdiansk, Enerhodar and Mariupol, currently occupied by Russian forces.
