“After the combined action of the militia units of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Russian armed forces, the city of Krasny Liman was completely liberated from the nationalists. According to AFP news agency, Krasny Liman is the old name of the city of Lyman. This small city had a population of about 20,000 people before the Russian-Ukrainian conflict broke out.

Located in the northern part of the Donetsk region in the Donbass region (eastern Ukraine), Lyman lies on the road leading to the cities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk in eastern Ukraine.

Earlier, on May 27, the Ukrainian side said that Russia had controlled most of the city of Lyman, but Ukrainian forces were blocking the way to Sloviansk. Ukrainian and Russian forces have been fighting for control of Lyman for the past few days.

Currently, Russian forces have shifted their focus to the Donbass region in eastern Ukraine after encountering fierce Ukrainian resistance in the capital Kiev and other areas.

Late on May 27, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kiev is doing everything to protect the Donbass region from artillery fire, missile and aircraft attacks.
