3 people with their families were injured by lightning while working in the fields

Lightning struck in the field, killing 3 people in the same family.

On the afternoon of May 30, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung – Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tan Hoa Commune (Tan Thanh District) said: “The lightning incident in the potato field in the Southeast hamlet was Mr. Tran Van Lay (SN 1964, local resident). died on the spot, the other two, Mr. Lay’s nephew, was injured and taken to the hospital for emergency treatment.

This morning, a case has been discharged from the hospital but has not fully recovered, no longer remembering what happened before. This afternoon, the Commune People’s Committee organized a visit and condolences to the family.”

Mr. Lay’s relatives are heartbroken because of an unexpected accident

On the morning of May 29, Mr. Lay and his two grandchildren went to harvest potatoes in the field 2 km from home. Near 12 o’clock, it started to rain, so all three stopped working to return home. Heavy rain, Mr. Lay asked the two grandchildren to go quickly. When he was about 500m away from the house, suddenly a huge thunder and lightning suddenly hit the position of 3 people moving on the field. Mr. Lay and a nephew walking side by side fell unconscious on the spot. The other person, despite having tinnitus, fell into the field, but struggled to get up to return to the journalist.

Immediately, all family members ran out to take them both to the emergency room. But due to lightning hitting his body right away, Mr. Lay died, the other two were transferred to Cai Lay district hospital (Tien Giang) for emergency treatment.

Ms. Tran Thi Nga (SN 1997, son of Mr. Lay) said that the family belonged to a poor household and had to work as a wage earner to earn a living. An accident occurred while they were harvesting potatoes in the field.
