From January 2021, Nikkei announced that Apple is expanding iPad production facilities outside of China, with the expected destination being Vietnam. However, the complicated situation of Covid-19 last year caused this plan to be postponed.

iPad will be Apple’s second product line to be manufactured in Southeast Asia, after AirPods headphones. Last year, global iPad sales were 58 million units, all of which were made in China.

Apple has asked component suppliers not yet affected by the epidemic to accumulate components, with the goal of ensuring there is no shortage in the next few months. These requirements apply to all of its products, including iPhones, iPads, AirPods, and MacBooks.

Before that, some sources also said AirPods Pro 2 will be mass-produced in Vietnam from the end of this year.
