Cargo transportation continues to attract aviation giants

Currently, Emirates SkyCargo is operating freight services to 11 destinations. The airline also offers cargo space on Emirates’ passenger line of over 200 wide-body Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s serving more than 130 destinations on six continents. Last year alone, Emirates SkyCargo transported more than 2.1 million tons of cargo.

According to CLIVE Data Services, May 2022 data shows air freight demand is 4% higher than in the same month last year but still at a lower level than May 2019. because the air freight market is still affected by the crisis in Ukraine.

However, in many markets, air freight demand has returned to pre-pandemic levels like North Atlantic air freight.

Shipping demand from Europe to North America has “changed profoundly over the past eight weeks” from growth of 82% in March and 64% in May.
