“For more than 10 years, the water has flooded into the gate every time it rains heavily. This year, the water flooded deeper, even into my house. Recently, the drainage company pumped out the water but only reduced the water in the house, The yard is still flooded.

The water flooded my house, causing my family’s life to turn upside down, and there are about 20 other people in my area who also suffer the same situation. During the day, when going out or going to work, you have to carry water in one hand and clothes in the other. Going through the flooded section, I asked a neighbor’s house to change clothes,” Ms. Thuan shared.

According to Ms. Thuan, this year, the flooding came earlier than usual, making people worry about how to live when the rainy season lasts for a few more months. Currently, the water has receded but many places in Tu Lien ward are still flooded from 20 to 100 cm. To make a living, people use wooden planks to build bridges to travel. Others have to go by boat or put on wading boots and then go to the company to change clothes to work.

Every day, I have to put them on a boat, then take them across the alley to go to school. My biggest concern was the day my son took the exam, he sat on the boat and I kept worrying, if he accidentally fell, he would all get wet, late for the exam, it would affect his psychology,” Hung said.

According to Mr. Hung, the cause of the inundation was the rising Tu Lien lake. After the rain on May 29, the water rose while the sewer to the West Lake was blocked, so it flooded the houses of many households.

“I hope local authorities at all levels have a solution to make people less miserable,” Hung expressed. Not only struggling in daily life, many households also suffered damage to their property, wooden utensils, iron, paper… being flooded with water.

Mr. Phan Huu Viet (a resident in lane 139 Au Co) said that, although he was used to being flooded, his warehouse did not know where to move, and was flooded with hundreds of cardboard boxes and lots of furniture. wooden house is soaked in water.

“My family has to put the altar, refrigerator and many electronics on high to avoid flooding. Even the day before, I had to cut off the circuit breaker to prevent electric shock because the water in the house was too high. Not only water, garbage. also followed it into the house”, Mr. Viet said.

According to Mr. Viet, his family is one of the households in the ward that was most severely flooded, and their daily lives were turned upside down. “For nearly a week now, my family has no running water, the backup water tank is flooded, the whole family has to take a shower. Every day, my husband and I go to work, at home with parents over 70 years old. Always have to clean up, slap water.

Because the kitchen was flooded and could not cook rice, the couple had to buy boxed lunches. At first, they also brought it, but then they knew it was flooded, they didn’t bring it anymore so they had to eat instant noodles. We have also proposed and promoted to the authorities, but so far, dirty water still attacks like this. Mr. Doan Van Duong, Chairman of Tu Lien Ward People’s Committee, said that in recent days, Hanoi has continuously rained, causing the water level of Tu Lien Lake to rise, flooding many households in the ward.

“We promptly checked and temporarily pumped out water to the people, and reported to the District People’s Committee on the renovation of Tu Lien Lake and construction of a drainage culvert across Xuan Dieu Street to stop the flooding,” said Mr. Duong said.

Also related to the above incident, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, Chairman of Tay Ho District People’s Committee, said that 200 households in the flooded area are in low-lying areas, like an oasis.
