New generation Lexus RX launched globally

Lexus RX 2023 has just been launched with a completely new design and uses the GA-K chassis platform

Lexus has just announced the all-new RX 2023 to the global media. First launched in 1998, Lexus RX 2023 is the 5th generation of this model, inheriting and continuing the success of the past 25 years.

The new Lexus RX is developed on the basis of Toyota’s parent company’s GA-K chassis platform, which is also the foundation on which the latest ES and NX are built. According to the Japanese luxury car company, this new platform helps the vehicle to increase rigidity but is nearly 90kg lighter.

The vehicle has overall dimensions length x width x height: 4,890 x 1,920 x 1,695mm and the wheelbase is at 2,850mm. Compared to the previous generation, the wheelbase of the RX 2023 is 60mm longer, but the total length remains the same. The design of the Lexus RX 2023 retains the familiar crossover coupe style, but the details are completely refreshed.

Overall, the front end of the car still has an X-shaped direction like many Lexus models. New style grille first appeared on Lexus car, vertical design, diamond motifs. The full LED lighting cluster with sharp positioning lights is the company’s brand identity.

Looking across the body, the black detail on the C-pillar of the Lexus RX 2023 is still retained and refined. The wheel arches are rounder instead of the boxy shape as before. Multi-spoke wheels with 19-21 inch options depending on the version. Meanwhile, the rear of the car is completely changed with more angular lines. The notable highlight is the L-shaped taillight cluster on both sides connecting a strip, which has many similarities with the new generation IS. The L-logo is also replaced by the letter LEXUS, but the new generation NX and LX models.

The interior of the Lexus RX 2023 is also completely refreshed. However, the Japanese luxury car company did not provide detailed information. It can be seen that the car has a new 4-spoke steering wheel, a digital display clock with a sharp screen and a completely new Lexus Interface system. The 8-inch entertainment screen comes with a 14-inch option for more advanced versions.

Lexus RX 2023 will have 4 engine versions. Specifically, RX350 uses a turbocharged 2.4L petrol engine, with a capacity of 275 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque, 8-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. In the RX350h version using a hybrid engine including a 2.4L petrol engine and an electric motor, for a total capacity of 246 horsepower and 316 Nm of torque, CVT gearbox, 4-wheel drive system.

The most powerful is the RX500h F-Sport Performance version. This model will have a high-performance hybrid engine with a turbocharged 2.4L I4 petrol engine combined with a high-power electric motor on the rear axle. This combination brings a total capacity of 367 hp and 550 Nm of torque. The car is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, capable of accelerating from 0-96 km / h in 5.9 seconds.

In addition, the car also has an RX450h+ plug-in hybrid version that will not be distributed in the US market, so exact specifications are not announced. However, this engine will most likely be equivalent to the NX450h+. This model currently uses a 2.5L I4 petrol engine and three electric motors, with a capacity of 302 horsepower.

Currently, the Lexus RX 2023 has only been announced for the North American market. The price of the car has not been announced yet. The first cars are expected to hit dealerships later this year.
