Chinese fighter jet crashes into residential area, 3 casualties
A J-7 fighter of the Chinese Air Force crashed into a residential area in Xiangyang, Hubei province, central China during training this morning, June 9.
The Global Times reported that the accident damaged several houses and left one person dead and two others injured.


According to CCTV, the pilot of the J-7 parachuted before the jet crashed and escaped death. This person was taken to the hospital with other injured victims.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

A video posted online by Xinhua News Agency showed black smoke rising from the accident scene on a street in Lao Hekou, Xiangyang, while several houses were flattened.
The local rescue force was dispatched to the scene the day after receiving the alert.
