Completing the final preparations before the second round of the French presidential election

Currently, French localities have completed the final stages of preparation for the most important political event of the year to elect the French leader for the 2022 – 2027 term. Anne Blondeau, City Hall of Courbevoie, France, said: “These modern machines help to speed up both the voting and counting process, saving time and less paperwork in preparing ballots and envelopes like before”.

Ms. Blondeu also said that the Courbevoie area has been using voting machines since 2008 and is familiar with the process. However, in France, machine voting is not yet widely permitted, so paper ballots are still common.

Across France, polling stations are basically ready to welcome the first voters to cast their ballots on the morning of April 24. Only the final procedures of security and technical checks are being carried out to ensure the second round election will be transparent, democratic and secure.

The two candidates entering the second round are outgoing President Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen of the far-right National Rally party. French media said, after a live debate lasting nearly 3 hours on television on the evening of April 20 between the two candidates, the majority of voters had their choice.

From 0:00 on April 23 (local time), the election campaign of two candidates will have to pause to give voters time to think and consider before making important decisions. Preliminary results are expected to be available on the evening of April 24 (local time).
