Why are many people “disappointed” when buying a house for only 25,000 VND in Italy?

In recent years, many small Italian towns have attracted visitors by selling homes at “amazing” prices. For just 1 Euro (over 25,000 VND), the buyer can own real estate with a usable area of about 70 m2. Buying a house with such a cheap amount of money makes many people flock to see it.

The sparsely populated Italian city of Troina is one that has introduced such a policy. According to the head of Troina, this is how the city attracts more people to live because the place is very quiet.

According to many, when buying this 1 Euro house, there will be a lot of other costs to renovate the whole thing. And many people have to give up because they can’t “carry” the repair costs.

According to The Sun (UK), for those who are used to buying these seemingly “super cheap” real estate items, they are “disappointed” that the extra money is many times higher than the normal price of a property, an apartment.

A typical case of buying a house for 1 Euro and having to “run away” is Mr. Danny McCubbin, 58 years old, lives in London. In particular, Mr Danny McCubbin was lucky to buy a house for 1 Euro, but he had to sell it immediately as construction costs increased beyond his ability to pay. For pushing a 1 euro house to someone else, Danny McCubbin lost up to 3,000 euros in the process.

However, not everyone is as “lucky” as Danny McCubbin. Another British tourist, 46-year-old Jose Ramos, bought two houses for 1 Euro. He has renovated 1 apartment and plans to buy 2 more apartments as a resort.

Jose said that because he was fluent in Italian, he had the advantage of finding a repairman. Even though everything is going smoothly, this man still warns the buyer to find out everything carefully before putting down the money.

It is known that the rules for buying a house for 1 Euro in Italy will vary from region to region. But most will ask buyers for a $5,600 deposit to make sure the new owners have to renovate them. Meanwhile, in the town of Pratola Peligna, buyers do not need to pay a down payment, but must sign an agreement that if they do not provide a construction plan within the first 6 months, they will be fined 11,000 USD.
