Hong Kong (China) resumes flights from 9 countries, suspends mandatory testing of the entire population

The flight ban has been imposed since the beginning of January 2022 when the Omicron variant first appeared in this special zone. According to Lam Trinh Nguyet Nga, after entering the country, passengers are still isolated for 14 days. If a traveler tests negative on Friday and Saturday, they can leave the hotel early and self-monitor for another 7 days.

Social distancing measures will be eased in three phases, scheduled to start on April 21. In the initial phase, restaurants and fitness centers can reopen.

Suspension of compulsory testing of the entire population

The government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (China) today decided to suspend the plan to implement mandatory testing of the entire population after considering the opinions of experts.

Health experts agree that mandatory testing of the entire population should be done in the early or late stages of the outbreak, so now is not the right time. Therefore, whether or not Hong Kong conducts a nationwide test depends on the development of the disease.
