According to the South China Morning Post, the fire and rescue unit in Guangxi said the victim’s body and plane debris had been found after searching an area of 46,000 square meters.
Speaking at a press conference this evening, the director of the Civil Aviation Administration of China’s Aviation Safety Office Zhu Tao said: “The black box has been sent to Beijing for decryption… it will be lost. more time, longer if there is damage inside. Once decoded, it will provide valuable information for the investigation.”
The plane’s black box has just been found containing cockpit voice recordings, which could help investigators understand how the Boeing plane carrying 132 people crashed, Zhu Tao said.

About 330 people were involved in the search and recovery operation at the crash site, which spans an area larger than six football fields. Mr. Zhu Tao also said he had found some body parts of the victims.
Torrential rain has affected the search for victims. Zheng Xi, head of the Guangxi Provincial Fire and Rescue Service, said rainwater had filled the depressions caused by the impact of the collision, prompting firefighters to pump out the drainage. “When we searched the area, we saw aircraft debris and bodies.”
So far, Chinese authorities have not confirmed the number of casualties.
Investigators are trying to figure out what happened in the final moments of the crash and what caused it to do a near-vertical dive. Data from aircraft monitoring site FlightRadar24 shows that, before the crash, the plane was traveling at close to the speed of sound.
China Eastern Airlines plane with 123 passengers and 9 crew members crashed on March 21 while en route from Kunming to Guangzhou.
