Jota shines, Liverpool temporarily takes the top spot from Man City

Welcoming Watford at home, Liverpool entered the game with high determination for the goal of surpassing Man City on the rankings. The home team’s attacking players soon flooded the opponent’s half and by the 23rd minute, their efforts had brought home the goal. The ball was sent to the right, Joe Gomez made a cross for Jota to head in to open the score.

After the goal, Liverpool continued to dominate for the rest of the first half, however no more goals were scored in this half.

Entering the second half, the game did not change much. Liverpool are still active attackers, but they do not create too many special things. On the other side of the front line, Watford also had very dangerous opportunities, but the yellow shirt strikers were not successful in front of The Kop goal.

The competition is not too overwhelming, but the bravery helps Liverpool still get what they need. In the 87th minute, Jota was fouled in the penalty area and on the penalty spot, Fabinho made no mistake to double the lead, sealing a 2-0 victory for Liverpool.

With the victory at home, Liverpool have 72 points and temporarily surpassed Man City on the rankings. Pep Guardiola’s teachers and students will play at 9pm.
