Emirates surpasses shipping milestone of 1 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccine

A new announcement from Emirates SkyCargo says that more than 4,200 tonnes of the COVID-19 vaccine, or 1 billion doses, has been transported on 2,000 flights to more than 80 destinations. Nearly two-thirds of the 1 billion doses of this vaccine have been delivered to developing countries.

UAE Airlines is one of the first air carriers in the world to plan a global delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine. In February 2021, Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UNICEF to prioritize the transport and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in support of the COVAX mechanism.

In addition to the COVID-19 vaccine, the airline also ships other critical pharmaceuticals and medical equipment on flights to more than 140 destinations across continents.
