Recently, the University of Auckland (New Zealand) and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) has signed cooperation agreements in the fields of training, research, exchange of lecturers – students, and most notably, joint training programs at bachelor and master levels. These two joint programs will give HCMUT students the opportunity to study a top program in Computer Science or Data Science at the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Science. The partnership between the two universities not only brings financial benefits, but also allows Vietnamese students to access a global education.

Through this partnership, Computer Science students at HCMUT will have the opportunity to study and research at the largest and ranked top Science faculty in New Zealand. The Computer Science and Data Science programs at the University of Auckland are taught by leading scientists who have made major contributions to the field, and achieved a wide range of globally recognized research achievements.

With the ‘2 + 2’ bachelor’s degree program, students will study the Computer Science program at HCMUT for the first two years, and will transfer to the University of Auckland to study the Science program. Computing or Data Science in the last two years. On completion of this pathway, students will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree (major in Computer Science or Data Science) from the University of Auckland.

As for the ‘1 + 1’ master’s joint training route, students will have the opportunity to transfer to the University of Auckland after 1 year of studying a master’s program in Computer Science at HCMUT. Completing the program after a year in New Zealand, students will be awarded a Master’s degree in Data Science or Master’s degree in Digital Security.

The partnership with HCMUT is one of many educational initiatives by the University of Auckland in Vietnam over the past 12 months. Previously, the University of Auckland has provided a learning support space right in Ho Chi Minh City to enhance the online learning experience of Vietnamese students when they cannot study directly in New Zealand. In addition, the University of Auckland also has a “Vietnam Excellence Scholarship” (with a tuition fee support of up to 160 million VND) for Vietnamese students with excellent academic achievements who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree and After university.
