Won a full scholarship to Harvard University

AmericaKylan Benson decided to choose Harvard, after being accepted to 18 schools, including four Ivy League universities, and received a total of more than 3 million USD in scholarships.

Next June 2, Kylan Benson will represent the entire class to give a speech, as the graduating valedictorian of Ramsay IB High School, Birmingham City, Alabama. Kylan was accepted by 18 universities, including Ivy League schools, and awarded her with scholarships totaling more than $3 million. The male student said he would go to Harvard this fall with a full scholarship.

Kylan has a knack for debating and honed it in grades 7-12. At Ramsay School, boys are co-captains of the Speak First debate team. Two weeks ago, Kylan found out he was number one in his class. Since 10th grade, I and two other friends have been constantly competing for the top spot. Kylan is mostly in third place so don’t expect to be selected as valedictorian. But in the end, he finished with a 4.5 GPA and 32 ACT scores (the top college entrance exam in America).

“I just keep doing what I’m doing. But we’re good friends. Having two friends like that, not competing but motivating each other, is a great experience,” Kylan said.

The male student said he did not initially plan to apply to Ivy League schools. But after being persuaded by former Ramsay students, Kylan gave it a try. I was accepted by four Ivy League schools.

“Being admitted to Ivy League schools like Harvard and Yale is a great feeling. After years of hard work at school, it’s always a pleasure to see the fruits of my labor,” Kylan said.

According to Kylan, visiting schools is a way for her to see if the place is right for her. The visit helped me feel the space here and observe how the students interact with each other. Those things I can’t get just by researching and researching schools online.

Kylan has limited his choice between Harvard and Georgetown. For each school, he visited twice.

“It was a difficult decision because I really like both,” Kylan said.

In the end, Kylan chose Harvard because the students here are pleasant and welcoming. The school also has a good reputation, reputation and history.

“Harvard is the place for me,” says Kylan, who plans to study international relations and wants to become a global leader.

The male student said that his success has been imprinted by his family, especially his mother and grandmother. She was also inspired by an aunt, the latest in her family to graduate from college in nearly 50 years. In addition to family, Kylan is also grateful to friends in the debate group and classmates at Ramsay school who have always encouraged and encouraged him.
