From today (May 3) to May 5, all people in 12 out of 16 districts of the capital Beijing, China will have to take 3 consecutive PCR tests to limit the spread of COVID. -19, in the context that disease control work here is in a “critical phase”.

According to Global Timesa spokesman for the Beijing Health Commission, Mr. Li Ang (Li Ang) announced the above decision in a press conference on May 2.

Before that, Beijing had 3 rounds of testing in areas affected by COVID-19 from April 25 to 29 and in major districts such as Chaoyang and Haidian.

Beijing stepped up testing as the city recorded hundreds of new infections. Since April 22, Beijing has recorded a total of about 400 new infections in 14 counties, including 156 in Chaoyang District and 103 in Fangshan District.

Pang Xing Huo, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said they had drawn the characteristics of new infections. Among the new infections are those who eat with others, have not been vaccinated, or participate in a series of activities that lead to community transmission.

Meanwhile, Shanghai, China’s largest city, is generally still under lockdown, with only five out of 16 counties easing restrictions since the weekend. According to Reuters news agency, the strict anti-epidemic measures in Shanghai have caused public outrage, when millions of the city’s about 26 million people have been trapped at home for more than a month.
