Miss Duong Thuy Vi won a double gold medal at the 31st SEA Games

On the morning of May 14, at Cau Giay Gymnasium (Hanoi) continued to take place the finals of Wushu SEA Games 31.

Performing the first test, Duong Thuy Vi was awarded 9.70 points by the referees. This is the highest score among 7 athletes competing in the female martial arts event. With this result, Duong Thuy Vi won the gold medal of the 31st SEA Games. This is the 6th SEA Games gold medal in the competitive career of the Hanoi female boxer.

Duong Thuy Vi’s teammate Deng Xiaoping got 9.69 points, equal to the athlete Sandy OO of Myanmar. However, Deng Xiaoping ranked behind Sandy OO.

Before that, opening the second day of Wushu competition, in the men’s boxing event, Nong Van Huu won bronze with 9.69 points and Pham Quoc Khanh only got 9.68 points, ranked 5th.

This is the second gold medal Duong Thuy Vi has won at this 31st SEA Games. One day earlier (May 13), Duong Thuy Vi won the gold medal in the women’s swordsman event with 9.70 points, the highest among 7 athletes competing.

After nearly 5 years, Duong Thuy Vi re-appeared in the SEA Games arena and Vietnam’s golden girl Wushu immediately affirmed her level with a double gold medal.

Previously, sharing with PV Dan Viet after winning the gold medal, Duong Thuy Vi said: “When competing, I don’t think about the gold medal or anything else but focus on competing. This gold medal win is a bit special to me. when this is my first time attending the SEA Games at home.”

This year is 29 years old, so this may be the last SEA Games of Duong Thuy Vi. However, she revealed surprisingly: “I can’t promise anything yet, neither to myself, my family nor the coaching staff. At first, I want to focus on this SEA Games as much as possible and then calculate the next year by year. one. I think when I’m still strong, I can still play.”

The Hanoi female boxer also talked about her marriage plan for the first time: “I think now is not the time to “repay” the husband-in-law for my mother. I can’t decide this, when will I get married? Everyone knows it right away.”
