The user of the pickaxe who smashed two cars was sentenced to death
Binh ThuanDinh Van Hoang, 25, was tried after nearly three months of driving a hoe to smash two cars on a highway construction site in Ham Thuan Bac district.
On May 17, Hoang, a native of Kon Tum, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison by the People’s Court of Ham Thuan Bac district Intentionally damaging property according to Clause 2, Article 178 of the Penal Code; forced to compensate 100 million dong to the truck owner.
Because the damage to the remaining car has not been determined, the court separates this matter so that the car owner can sue the defendant with another case.

According to the indictment, on March 1, Hoang was hired as a hoe driver at the construction of a bridge for people to live on the Vinh Hao – Phan Thiet highway, Thuan Minh commune, Ham Thuan Bac district. At noon of the same day, this person returned to the camp to rest and was given oil by the storekeeper Le Tran Nhat Thanh, 40 years old. Seeing that Mr. Thanh had an unpleasant attitude and suddenly cursed himself, Hoang left to work.
In the afternoon, Hoang returned to the camp. Recalling the story of the storekeeper insulting him for no reason, he drove a hoe to shovel many things into a light truck that Thanh often used to carry oil, causing heavy damage to the vehicle.
Hoang drove to look for Thanh but did not find him. At this time, Mr. Lai Phuc Loc (39 years old, construction worker) was afraid that Hoang would destroy his pickup truck parked nearby, so he drove away. Thinking there was Mr. Thanh inside, Hoang controlled the ladle and hit it twice on the body and front of the car. Mr. Loc promptly opened the door and ran out.

At the trial, Hoang admitted to the act, saying that he only intended to damage property, not harm the occupants of the car.
Meanwhile, victim Lai Phuc Loc asked the court to handle Hoang for “attempted murder”, because the defendant knew that someone was in the car but still deliberately chased and pounded the bucket. Moreover, the defendant thought that the storekeeper Thanh was sitting on a pickup truck, so he took action.
“The defendant’s behavior is endangering the lives of other people. If the car only moved a little more, I would have died and would no longer be present at this trial,” Mr. Loc said.
However, Mr. Loc’s point of view was not accepted by the court.
