A very shocking information for Vietnamese athletics when female athletes Lo Thi Thanh was taken away the silver medal by the international referees of the Asian Athletics Federation participating in the operation at the 31st SEA Games.

In the final competition on the evening of May 18 at My Dinh Stadium, Thanh finished in second place with a time of 36 minutes and 32 seconds, behind teammate Pham Thi Hong Le. However, soon after, the Singapore delegation filed a lawsuit claiming that Lo Thi Thanh was wearing inappropriate shoes.

Accordingly, Lo Thi Thanh’s shoes are said to be Marathon running shoes with power and performance support for athletes. After holding an emergency meeting in the evening of the same day, the referees made a decision to cancel the achievement and strip Lo Thi Thanh of the silver medal.

Notably, according to the Vietnamese athletic leader, the international referees initially asked Lo Thi Thanh to change shoes. Vietnamese athletes have changed shoes and been approved by the referee to compete. But after the Singapore delegation sued, the arbitrator decided to cancel Thanh’s results.

This is not good news for Vietnamese athletics in general and Lo Thi Thanh in particular. With Thanh being stripped of the results, Khin Mar Se of Myanmar was promoted to receive silver, and Go Chui Ling of Singapore from 4th place to 3rd to receive bronze. Hong Le still won the gold medal in this content.
