AirPods Pro 2 will likely be manufactured in Vietnam, still using the Lightning port

In a recent report on Apple’s continued expansion of production lines out of China, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he expects AirPods Pro 2 to be manufactured in Vietnam and retain the Lightning port. .

While Ming-Chi Kuo has previously said that Apple will switch to USB-C for charging accessories as well as iPhones in the future, he predicts this change will not apply to the AirPods Pro 2 generation.

Kuo quotes part of an article by WSJ and said he believes a move to ramp up production outside of China is possible for AirPods Pro 2, because the supply chain for these headphones is relatively unsophisticated, plus Vietnam has “better infrastructure and workforce”he said.

However, he also added that while the mass production of AirPods Pro 2 will be done in Vietnam, the initial production phase of this headset will take place in China.

Luxshare also manufactures AirPods for Apple in Vietnam, and Vietnam is also a production center for Samsung.

Kuo expects AirPods Pro 2 to launch in the second half of 2022.
