“At that time, I had never been in love with anyone. My family was a monk, so I have been a vegetarian and recited Buddha’s name since I was a child. I prayed to Mother Quan Am to let me meet a gentle and handsome person, but if I don’t have a predestined relationship, I will become a monk. Until I saw that Tiep was so handsome, I thought he was a person from a previous life, so I liked him very much. Tiep is very difficult, so I am his person”, Mrs. Kim Man excitedly recounted.

Who would have thought that Mr. Tiep really took him away, still keeping his promise to come back to pick him up. This made her believe in signs that he liked her too. About a month later, when Kim Man returned to Quang Ngai, Mr. Tiep suddenly visited at… 4 am, on a business trip. That was also the first time he introduced his family and asked for permission to get to know Kim Man. Unfortunately, both families disagree. Kim Man’s parents do not want to marry their daughter away. Tiep’s family was afraid that Kim Man wouldn’t know how to do business, so they did not allow him to get married.

“Because our love for each other is so strong that it overcomes everything. At that time, my teacher didn’t let me, I told him and my mother that I was pregnant. Hearing that, the teacher and mother agreed to marry. As soon as I got permission, I took him to the commune committee to register the marriage right away for fear that the family would change their mind. Then he brought the registration paper back to his parents in the North, his family saw that “rice cooked into rice” and then accepted for us to come together”, teacher Kim Man revealed.

At that time, the family was still poor, so the couple’s wedding day took place in a simple way, with only a tray of rice to offer to the elderly. Wedding attire is also very simple, Mrs. Man wore a white ao dai when he was at school, and Mr. Tiep wore normal clothes when he went to work. At the ceremony, the two only had a pair of shinobi, but they were still very happy.

After getting married, the young couple plunged into a series of days full of hardships. Ms. Man continued to teach in her hometown, he went to Ho Chi Minh City to work and work regularly.

“In 1983, my husband and I had our first child, but it was almost a month before he came home to visit. He cut his old shirt in half and sewed it into clothes for his children to wear, because he did not have money to buy gifts. On the day he returned to Saigon, I secretly opened his wallet and begged him for 1 dong with the piece of paper ‘Give me 1 dong so that I can buy necessary things for my children, because I can’t work now’. He went to the train station, just finished reading the piece of paper, then came back to hug me and cry.” Man’s words made Ngoc Lan burst into tears and exclaim: “The love story is beautiful but sad, like a movie.”

When you have children, life becomes more difficult and stressful. The couple do all kinds of jobs from selling cigarettes, sewing crafts, making incense. They worked together, until she saved some money, she gave it to her husband to receive a separate project to do. God loves gentle people, he does good business, so the economy has a surplus.

Thought, life would turn to a new page, who would have thought that Gia Tiep suddenly had a traffic accident. “After the ultrasound, the doctor said that if the intestine is stuck, it cannot be saved. When I heard that, I was so scared that I cried a lot. Then transferred to Cho Ray Hospital, I put the rest of the money in my bag. Going to the emergency room, I poured money out of my pocket, asked the doctor to save my husband: ‘I have that much money, you guys take it all, I need my husband, but I don’t need money,’ Mrs. Kim Man recalled, causing Ngoc Lan tearful tears.
