Fake boys cheat money ‘online girlfriends’

According to the investigation, due to a lack of debt due to online gambling and needing money to spend, Thanh set up an online account, pretending to be a boy to get acquainted with girls to defraud his property.
In early September 2021, Thanh claimed to be Hoang Duong and befriended the girl through a dating app. After a while the conversation became intimate, Hoang Duong pretended to love and then borrowed her 115 million VND.
Through “online girlfriend”, Hoang Duong got acquainted with her brother and then asked to borrow money to invest in virtual money, promising to pay high profits. Trusting “sister lover”, he transferred to Hoang Duong a total of more than 4 billion VND. Initially, he was paid high interest but then his contact was cut off, unable to find Hoang Duong.
With the same method, Thanh has deceived many people from 10 to 100 million VND. The money appropriated by the victims, Thanh transferred to many different bank accounts.
The investigation agency determined, Thanh appropriated a total of about 3.85 billion.
