Pakistani father ruthlessly murdered his daughter for unexpected reasons

The Dawn news site reported that the suspect Shahzaib Khan was arrested by Pakistani police on March 10 for murder. Specifically, Khan personally used a pistol to kill his 7-day-old biological daughter.

“Shahzaib Khan two years ago married Miss Mashal Fatima. At the end of last month, Fatima gave birth to a daughter and named her Jannat. Shahzaib was furious about this. On the morning of March 6, he entered the house and pulled out a pistol, firing several times at Jannat in front of many family members. After committing the crime, Shahzaib immediately fled,” a representative of the local police agency said.

“Jannat was taken to a local hospital by family members, but the baby did not survive. The results of the post-mortem examination showed that Jannat was shot four times,” the police said.

“The child was born a girl, and Shahzaib was furious. At that time, Shahzaib entered the house while we, family members, were gathering and asked Fatima to deliver Jannat. Shahzaib looked at the baby in his arms, pulled out his gun and pulled the trigger,” Hidayatullah Khan, the victim’s uncle, told the Daily Mail.

“I tried to get Jannat back from Shahzaib, but he pointed a gun at me and other relatives and threatened to shoot if we dared approach,” Hidayatullah added.

Pakistani public opinion was very angry right after the incident was widely publicized. “This goes beyond barbarism, brutality and cruelty. The only solution to end this brutality is to give the perpetrator the death penalty,” wrote Twitter user Tehseen Qasim. “I feel horrible. I feel very sad for the girl’s mother. This is 2022, and women are leading the world,” another wrote.

According to the Daily Mail, in some rural areas in Pakistan, there is still a perception that a wife giving birth to a daughter is an insult to her husband.
