UN urges Russia to immediately end its operation in Ukraine
(Dan Tri) – The United Nations General Assembly again approved a resolution asking Russia to immediately stop its military operation in Ukraine.
According to AFP, The United Nations General Assembly on March 24 passed a resolution demanding that Russia immediately stop the operation military in Ukraine. The resolution was passed with 140 votes in favor, 38 abstentions and 5 votes against.
The resolution calls on Russia to immediately stop hostile actions against Ukraine, especially attacks against civilians and civilian targets.
This is the second time the United Nations General Assembly has passed such a resolution. The first resolution was passed on March 2. However, these resolutions are not binding. On March 23, Russia submitted a draft resolution to the United Nations Security Council regarding the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, but it was not adopted.
The new resolution of the United Nations General Assembly was made in the context of the Russia-Ukraine war continuing to escalate despite the efforts of the two sides to negotiate. Russia is said to be expanding the scale of attacks on targets in Ukraine both on land, at sea and in the air. Moscow announced that the operation will be terminated only when Ukraine pledges to ensure its neutral status, not to join NATO, and to meet a number of other requirements that Russia has put forward.
