At 6:30 a.m., Mr. Le Van Thom, 78 years old, left his home in Doi Hong, more than a kilometer away, to come here to find a copy of the book. The catcher is a spoon and a basket. Mr. Thom sat on the beach, using a spoon to gently scrape the layer of sand above. Scratch a few times, see 1-2 fish sticking out, he quickly picked it up and put it in the basket.

Within half an hour, Mr. Thom’s plastic basket was full of chem. “This season, in the morning, the tide recedes far away, exposing the sandy beach, catching many new chemists,” said Mr. Thom.

On the nearly 2 km long beach, dozens of other people including men, women and children also come here to catch seafood specialties. Each person scratched a bunch, the sound of spoon scraping the sand, creating a busy and exciting atmosphere.

Ms. Le Thi Phuong, whose house is more than 3 km from Hon Rom beach, is working hard to find sand. The colorful carp (white, brown, brown stripes, gray stripes…) that are bigger than the thumb are placed in the basket in turn.

The woman said that forcing chem to copy this way is not very difficult, but if you sit for a long time, your back will be a bit tired. Therefore, scratching within about 5 m2, she got up again, brought the chem from the basket into the bag, walked back and forth a few steps to stretch the tendons and muscles.

According to Ms. Phuong, this season has a lot of copying, caught within an hour is more than 2 kg. If anyone works diligently, in the morning can catch 10-15 kg.

Mui Ne people said that in Hon Rom sea there are many types of bivalve molluscs such as clams, chang chang, chem cop, elk… The shape is almost the same, but the size is different. Chem carp is smaller than chang chang, but the taste is sweeter.

Chem carp can make many delicious dishes such as: cook vegetable soup, fry flour, make salad or cook porridge… In Mui Ne ward, people often catch it, boil it, take the meat out of the shell and store it in the refrigerator to eat. gradually. Women like to cook vegetable soup or fry dough, while men like to make salad for drinking.

Mr. Vo Van Cau said that every morning he caught about 10 kg. To save some to eat, the rest he sold to the market or restaurants in the area of ​​Hon Rom – Mui Ne. Chem copied that seafood traders bought wholesale for 30,000-35,000 VND per kilogram. Every morning, he earns about three hundred thousand, enough to support his family.

On this occasion of Hung King’s death anniversary, tourists go to Mui Ne, leading to a higher demand for seafood than on weekdays, including chem copy. Therefore, restaurants also order more chem copy.
