This house is a project to renovate a two-storey house in a busy neighborhood, with the idea of preserving the old appearance, while modifying it by adjusting the space below the porch, so that the house fits the natural landscape and meet the urban lifestyle.
The existing concrete structure of the house will be preserved, some materials will be reused to save costs.
The striking feature of the house is the see-through wooden curtain on the façade. This wooden curtain is made from reused materials, the diagonal wooden curtain creates natural shade, increases privacy, and helps the building to have the silhouette of an old thatched roof house.
After the renovation, the house consists of 1 master bedroom, 3 bedrooms for children and guests, living room, dining room, kitchen, office and storage room.
On the first floor, the living room, dining room and kitchen are seamlessly designed to form an open space. Here, the architect used large glass doors overlooking the outdoor garden, to blur the boundary between inside and outside.
The bedroom is arranged in a more discreet position, increasing privacy and coziness, overlooking a small courtyard with many green trees.
From the 1st floor, members can go up to the semi-open office space on the 2nd floor by internal stairs or external spiral stairs. Like the lower floor, large glass doors are used in the room with views of the terrace and garden.
On the 2nd floor, thanks to the wooden curtain that can be seen through, the space is guaranteed to be airy.
Around the house is a large garden with many familiar plants such as ornamental bananas, ornamental coconut trees, …
The green patches interwoven into the interior space create harmonious shades, increasing the vibrancy of the living area.
According to the architect, this garden house is a combination of landscape and layout that creates a relaxing atmosphere inside the house.
