On March 31, the Court of the Northern District of California, USA, sentenced Paul Bodner to 11 years in prison for the following acts. sexual abuse for adolescent Vietnamese boys in HCMC.

According to the April 13 statement from the TLSQ, Bodner, who was a substitute teacher, was convicted of three counts of “traveling with the intent to commit illegal sexual conduct” and one offence. commit illegal sexual acts in foreign countries”.

The Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) at TLSQ completed the investigation in collaboration with the San Francisco International Airport Homeland Security Investigations Office and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.

Between 2010 and 2019, Bodner made annual trips to Vietnam with the stated purpose of meeting teenage boys.

In an interview at the US border gate when he returned from Vietnam in late 2016, Bodner admitted to liking boys, but denied having sexual contact with underage boys.

HSI found and interviewed a series of teenage boys who were abused by Bodner.

Many children have shared similar stories, like Bodner using the pseudonym “Kevin” to befriend them at a local sports complex.

Bodner is also said to have invited the children to play in the hotel room. Here, this person took pictures and abused the children.

The subject used money and gifts to bribe and silence the children to avoid detection and prosecution.

In January 2020, Bodner was indicted by a grand jury, and was subsequently arrested and ordered to search his San Francisco Bay Area residence the following month.

During the criminal proceedings, analysis of Bodner’s text messages and social media communications with the victim indicated that he had intentionally tampered with evidence, telling the witness to lie about his age.

This person pleaded guilty to four of the above offenses in June 2021.

“This case is an unfortunate wake-up call that child sex predators continue to target vulnerable populations in Vietnam and other countries in the region, thinking that the Potential victims and their isolation from the US criminal justice system will allow them to evade prosecution,” said acting US Consul General Robert Greenan.

HSI is a key investigative force under the US Department of Homeland Security, playing a pivotal role in combating criminal organizations that take advantage of US systems for travel, commerce, and finance. illegal entry and exit.

HSI is also a global pioneer in combating the crimes of sexual exploitation of children.
