On April 15, the Economic Forum 2022 with the theme “Digital economy: Growth driver and future development of Ho Chi Minh City” was opened, with the participation of Prof. Politburo member, Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council; Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai; Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission Nguyen Thanh Phong.
In addition, many representatives from large enterprises and economic experts also contributed to the plan for Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF) is an annual international event hosted by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City with the aim of receiving input from speakers, domestic and international experts on issues field of socio-economic development of the City in general; key projects, goals and programs of the City in particular. The forum has gathered many opinions, suggestions and practical contributions to the city’s construction plans.
Here, Mr. Truong Gia Binh – Chairman of FPT Corporation gave a speech that suggested to the Ho Chi Minh City government many directions in policy and how to implement the digital economy. Mr. Truong Gia Binh said that it is possible to choose the development orientation of Ho Chi Minh City as a “green pearl” in the digital economy.

He further explained, Vietnam’s information technology industry and the software sector have gone from zero to have certain marks of success after 25 years. The Chairman of FPT also affirmed that Vietnam is a drastic country in terms of digital transformation. In particular, Ho Chi Minh City is the leader in information technology of the country, has a well-trained human force, is the city using the best data warehouse in the country. This is also the leading locality in smart transportation, smart health and ranked 1 in 10 most dynamic cities in the world.
Notably, in his proposal to Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Truong Gia Binh proposed All universities, colleges and high schools can bring science subjects related to artificial intelligence, big data, etc. to have the largest human resource in the world. Simultaneously piloting innovations and creativity right in Ho Chi Minh City, in each ward and each district.
Mr. Binh expressed: “We hope that Ho Chi Minh City will be like a founding jewel in terms of the latest technology; the city is a place to attract talents of the whole country. Previously, at the 2022 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Mr. Truong Gia Binh also said that FPT had asked all students of the FPT university system to learn blockchain and metaverse.
