19-year-old hacker has “power” in his hand enough to crash the stock market

When Corben Leo was 19, this teen had access to TAT-14, the undersea telecommunications cable system. This underground cable system will be operational until December 2020. “I checked the web server, the title is interesting. I want to see if I can hack it,” Leo told the Telegraph.

It is worth mentioning that his hacking method is amazingly simple. Specifically, Leo navigated to a specific web page and refreshed the page twice. A vulnerability gave Leo administrative rights as if he were logged in with an administrator account.

At this point, he was able to control the TAT-14 like a true master. He could control the entire bloodline of transatlantic trade with the tip of his fingers.

Leo says it can add admin rights to all of their accounts and access all of their internal documents including the inner workings of the cables, the physical structure of the cables, their maintenance times. .

With that vulnerability, Corben Leo was able to crash the stock market, create a political crisis, and spark international espionage accusations. However, he reported the vulnerability to the telecom company as part of their security program.

“I don’t want to interfere too much, because it’s an underground cable. I also don’t want to be added to the CIA blacklist,” Leo shared.

Currently, Corben Leo is 22 years old, claims to have earned nearly 1 million USD from his research work. Currently, Leo is running a cybersecurity company, which has a partnership with the US Department of Defense.
