The falls, located on the Brooks River, is a popular summer destination, where tourists come to watch the salmon jump over the high waterfall, which is also the time when brown bears gather and feed. Visitors enjoy watching the cooking bear raise its hand to catch salmon trying to jump out of the water.

An observatory at the falls was built in 1982 to separate tourists and bears, visitors are only allowed to stand in the fenced area according to regulations. Any act of crossing the fence, entering the water stream is against the law.

The video has garnered thousands of views and sparked a backlash on social media. The group of three arbitrarily crossed the viewing area, approaching the waterfall to take pictures of brown bears.

Fortunately for them, no one was injured or attacked by the bear but in the end, the three men were arrested by the police and sentenced to prison for their illegal actions.

According to the local attorney’s office, the three men were banned for a year from any national parks in the US.

David Engelman, Ronald J. Engelman II were fined $3,000 and jailed for a week. Meanwhile, Steven Thomas was fined $ 3,000 and served 10 days in prison.

Attorney S. Lane Tucker, working in Alaska, said: “Tourists are allowed to visit national parks where many species of wildlife live in the natural environment. However, to ensure both visitors and animals, the law is in place and no one is allowed to intrude.The actions of the three men endanger not only themselves, other visitors, and potentially endanger their lives. the lives of bears”.
