The draw for the Asian U17 qualifying round 2023: U17 Vietnam is in the same group as Thailand

On the afternoon of May 24, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held a draw for the 2023 Asian U17 qualifying round. 44 teams were divided into 10 groups, including 6 groups of 4 teams and 4 groups of 5 teams. Accordingly, U17 Vietnam is placed in the 2nd seed group and is in the same group F with U17 teams including: Thailand, Chinese Taipei and Nepal.

Matches in the 2023 AFC U17 Qualifiers will take place from October 1 to October 9, 2022. With the LDBDVN approved by AFC to host Group F, the players of the U17 Vietnam team will be able to play at home with the support of their home fans. This is considered to help U17 Vietnam have more favorable conditions to compete for the finals of the continental U17 arena.

In the qualifying round, the teams will compete in a round-robin format for each group to calculate the ranking points, choose 15 teams (10 group winners and 5 best second-place teams in the groups) to compete in the final round. along with the home team to get a direct entry, Bahrain.

To prepare for the 2023 Asian U17 Qualifiers, the U17 Vietnam team was also warmed up with a 4-week training tour in Germany and a friendly match with 4 youth teams of 4 Bundesliga clubs: Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt , 1. FC Koln and Borussia Monchengladbach. This training trip is the result of the project “Vietnamese young football talent incubator in Germany” jointly implemented by VFF, Bundesliga and Next Media.

According to the plan in August, Vietnam U17 team will reunite to compete in the Southeast Asian tournament, then continue to train in 2 to 3 stages to prepare to compete in the Asian Qualifiers.
