According to US media, Mr. Thomas’ health seriously deteriorated a few days before the stroke. The 77-year-old man told his friend Tom Bower that he once fell on the sidewalk but was lucky to be picked up by several people.

Meghan’s father was due to fly to the UK this week to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Anniversary, but a stroke on the night of May 23 left him with limited speech, affecting the trip. Mr. Thomas wrote in marker on the whiteboard: “I was looking forward to going to England to pay my respects to the Queen. I wish her a happy birthday and long life“.

After suffering a stroke, Thomas was taken to a hospital near his home in Rosarito, Mexico, before an ambulance transported him across the US border to a hospital in San Diego, California. After nearly a week in the intensive care unit, doctors said Thomas’s condition had improved significantly.
