This year’s pair of Samsung’s folding screen smartphones – Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 will have significant upgrades.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip

This year, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip is integrated on many high-end Android smartphones. Manufactured by Samsung itself using a super energy efficient 4 nanometer (nm) process, the chip is raising some heat concerns. In addition, the raw performance of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is also not impressive in the benchmarks, far behind the Apple A15 Bionic and also the MediaTek Dimensity 9000.

Fortunately, the upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ processor will power the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4. Although the chip’s name is still uncertain, the production replaces Samsung. and the 4nm fabrication process remains unchanged is a “100%” certainty.

Specifically, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will be the same as last year’s Snapdragon 888+ – an upgrade from the standard Snapdragon 888 and used on a handful of Android phones.

What will be interesting about Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4?

It can be confirmed with certainty, that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will integrate the S Pen stylus right in the body and have many upgrades compared to its predecessor. More importantly, Samsung will use Super UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) on the product, which will improve durability, including general scratch resistance and even the functionality of the S Pen.

Regarding the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the device will also be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ chip, upgraded from the Galaxy Z Flip 3’s Snapdragon 888 chip, supporting Super UTG, S Pen or even an under-screen camera.

In addition, the size of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 external screen will increase from 1.9 to 2 inches, the 6.7-inch foldable main screen will have less change. Meanwhile, the larger Galaxy Z Fold 4 will increase the internal screen size to 7.56 inches, and the outer screen will measure around 6.19 inches, almost identical to the current Galaxy Z Fold 3.
