Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health: Many medical staff quit after the Covid-19 epidemic

Only in the first 3 months of 2022, about 400 medical staff in Ho Chi Minh City have resigned.

As VietNamNet has reported, over the past time, many medical staff at Thu Duc City Hospital (HCMC) have quit their jobs because of a sharp drop in income. In which, only after 2 months of filing, the application will be resolved. The same situation happened at some medical facilities in the area.

Related to the above issue, at the press conference on the afternoon of April 4, Ms. Le Thien Quynh Nhu, deputy chief of the office of the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, explained that medical staff may quit their jobs because they are far from home and the working environment. inappropriate job, or income is not as expected. Every year, this situation still happens in public hospitals in HCMC.

In 3 months, 400 medical staff in HCMC have quit.

“After the Covid-19 epidemic, the economic status and revenue of hospitals and medical facilities decreased. Therefore, it is inevitable for medical staff to quit their jobs,” said Ms. Nhu.

Notably, only in the first 3 months of 2022, the whole city had about 400 medical staff quit. Meanwhile, the corresponding figure for the whole of 2021 is about 1,000 cases.

Facing the above situation, the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City is advising on a number of mechanisms and policies to support medical staff, especially grassroots medical staff. Nhu said that this week, the City People’s Council will meet and approve a number of policies on the above content.

Regarding the payment of benefits for volunteers at the Covid-19 Resuscitation Hospital, Ms. Nhu said that by the end of 2021, the hospital has focused on paying, disbursing and settling expenses for epidemic prevention and control.

However, by the end of the year, the Covid-19 Resuscitation Hospital still had some problems in payment and settlement, so far it has only spent more than half. That is also the reason why many hospital volunteers have not been paid as prescribed.

Currently, the Covid-19 Resuscitation Hospital and the City Health Department are coordinating and submitting to the City People’s Committee to remove problems. After that, the payment of support will continue to be made.

“Hopefully, volunteers will understand this delay,” Quynh Nhu said.

Before that, VietNamNet has repeatedly reflected on the fact that volunteers against Covid-19 in some districts and hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City have not received support. An important part of that is students from universities and colleges who stay in the city to support. These volunteers participate in many stages such as community sampling, vaccination support, F0 care….

Up to now, the payment work is still being promoted, but there are still some problems.
