Mai’s family lives in a house of less than 40 square meters, precarious between the vast acacia forest in the mountainous district of Khanh Vinh, Khanh Hoa province. His wife always agonized when Mai had to leave school to help her parents take care of the children.

Working for a while, Mai had to quit her job because of the Covid-19 epidemic. Returning to her hometown to take care of the children while her parents went to the fields for 2-3 days in a row, Mai always wanted to find a new job soon to have money to repair the house and so that the children would not have to drop out of school midway.

Poverty makes Cao Thi Mai never dare to dream big. She always struggled to have a stable income job to support her family. When she was working in Nha Trang, Mai also saved her daily life to save money to send back to her parents.
