The world’s fastest passenger plane successfully reaches “supersonic” speed

Recently, aircraft manufacturer from Canada Bombardier has said that their Global 8000 in development will be the fastest commercial jet aircraft with the world’s fastest speed and longest range. Reportedly, the Global 8000 has a capacity of 19 passengers, a range of 14,800km and achieved a speed of Mach 0.94 (1151.5km/h) during testing in May.

According to this manufacturer, the Global 8000 inherits the outstanding features of the Global 7500 – the aircraft surpassed the speed of sound in the air last year. Global 8000 is expected to go into operation in 2025 and use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) – an environmentally friendly fuel.

Bombardier’s potential competitor in the race for commercial jet speed is United Airlines. The airline has revealed its intention to provide supersonic flight services as early as 2029.
