Ensuring the safety of preschool children when going to school during the pandemic

Keeping children safe is the most important thing for many parents

On the afternoon of April 26, the Ministry of Education and Training held a seminar on “Solutions to ensure safety when raising, caring for and educating children directly at preschool educational institutions in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic.” 19 – Vietnam and international experience”.

The seminar was held face-to-face and online, with the participation of a number of domestic and foreign experts and educators.

Speaking at the seminar, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Ngo Thi Minh said: In the past 2 years, the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam has caused 4.4 million preschool children to have their education interrupted. Facing the difficulties of preschool educational institutions when reopening schools, while parents are not really assured to send their children to school, the education sector needs to have solutions to ensure children have access to early childhood education program to ensure the rights of children, especially 5-year-old children, to be ready for grade 1.

Deputy Minister Ngo Thi Minh wishes that the seminar is really a forum for educators to give their opinions and lessons learned in ensuring child safety; local response plans and solutions in managing, directing, and nurturing, caring for and educating children directly at preschool educational institutions in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic; the implementation of regulations on epidemic prevention and control suitable for children of preschool age.

Mr. Kayashi, an expert from Japan, shared his experience of running 6 preschools during the past 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Japan, the view is that no matter how many infections and outbreaks there are, schools are still open, and teachers are the first to get vaccinated. The reopening of schools is to prevent the risks of the epidemic’s impact on the economy.

Representatives of the Departments of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long, Bac Ninh, Nghe An and some kindergartens also shared their initiatives to care for, nurture and educate children in the context of the epidemic. . Specifically, local solutions in implementing Government policies to support preschool educational institutions and teachers to stabilize teaching and learning; solutions to ensure a stable ratio of teachers in class when children return to school as before the epidemic; additional medical staff in schools to ensure safety and respond to epidemics.
