The man who killed the lover who shocked public opinion in An Giang was sentenced to life in prison

On May 11, at the end of the first-instance trial, the People’s Court of An Giang province sentenced defendant Nguyen Van Hong (SN 1998; resident of Chau Phu A ward, Chau Doc city, An Giang province) to one year in prison for the crime of attempted murder. intent to cause injury, life in prison for murder. The total penalty is life imprisonment. The victim is a six-month-old girl.

According to the indictment, Hong and Nguyen Thi M. are both addicted to drugs. In mid-October, the two returned to live as husband and wife in Chau Phu A ward. At that time, M. had two children, K. (then just over 6 months old) and a 4-year-old child.

During the time of living together, Hong repeatedly bruised K.’s body. Even in October 2021, Hong made baby K. fall and break his arm, but did not allow M. to take him to the hospital for treatment, but applied oil and bandaged his arm.

On the evening of November 2, 2021, Hong, M. and D. (Hong’s friend) used drugs together at M’s house. Then, Hong told M. to find a place to charge his phone because there was no electricity at home. When M. was gone for about 2 minutes, K. cried. Hong was angry, so she took the bottle and poured water into K.’s mouth, causing the baby to choke, leading to asphyxiation. At this point, D. intervened again, then ran to call M. to go home.

In order to hide the act of killing the stepchild of the “half-hearted wife”, Hong used a lemon to squeeze K.’s mouth and lied to M. that the baby had a convulsion.

When he got home, seeing that his child was no longer breathing and his heart rate was weak, M. took the inhaler pill to put it in a bowl of warm water and then took K. with him to inhale. However, baby K. died. M. hug the baby to sleep together.

On 3-11-2021, Hong told M. to find a place to burn K. but M. did not agree. Around 2 a.m. the next morning, Hong asked M. to put K.’s body in his backpack and then bury it in the park embankment area in Chau Doc City.

After this incident, Hong often beat and threatened to kill M. and M.’s other child so that this woman would not dare to report to the police.

At about 10 o’clock on November 8, 2011, taking advantage of Hong’s loophole, M. denounced the crime of the “loose husband” to the police.
