Hot TikToker died suddenly at the hands of his sister
According to the women’s news channel Shethepeople (Women’s Channel), recently, a serious incident occurred in Iraq, causing public anger to boil and demanding strict punishment for the perpetrators.
The victim of the incident was a young girl named Eman Sami Maghdid (20 years), a hot TikToker who has an account with a “big” 47,000 followers. Eman is also an influential celebrity on social media. This attracts more and more people who are interested in the case.
Eman was shot dead with 9 bullets last weekend (March 6) on a road near Erbil International Airport, in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The perpetrator is the victim’s younger brother, Maghdid, 17 years old. Police have arrested this suspect and are conducting an investigation. Another man, believed to be an accomplice, was also arrested.
Although the motive for the crime is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that this was an act of “honour killing” committed by the victim’s sister.

Eman was killed by his own brother.
An act of “honour killing” occurs when a member, especially a girl or woman, is accused of bringing “disgrace” to the family.
Eman frequently posts photos and videos on social media showing him violating Islamic norms prevalent in Kurdish society in Iraq. And “tears overflowing” is when a young girl wearing a crop top takes a photo and posts it on social networks.
The death of Eman, just as the community was preparing to welcome International Women’s Day (March 8), made the public even more furious. Eman is the 11th victim this year to die of an “honour killing” act.
The Kurdistan region has high rates of gender-based violence, including sexual violence, domestic violence, honor violence, child marriage and even female genital mutilation.
A February statement by SEED (based in the city of Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq, which works to promote social, educational and economic development) reads: “We must strengthen efforts to counter patriarchal social norms that lead to violence”.

Two suspects have been arrested for investigation. The death of Eman, just as the community was preparing to celebrate International Women’s Day, made the public even more angry. Eman is the 11th victim this year to die of an “honour killing” act.
“Together, we must campaign for the prosecution of the perpetrators and strengthen the Kurdistan Regional Law to Combat Domestic Violence.”
